My name is Evan Widrick, and I am a member of the Class of 2027 at St. Lawrence University. I am from Adams, New York, and graduated from South Jefferson High School, where I was a member of the National Honor Society. At St. Lawrence, I play on the Men’s Soccer team and am majoring in Government, with plans to attend law school after graduation.


 

Aiden Sax

Aiden Sax, Class of 2026, is a senior at St. Lawrence University, double-majoring in political science and biology. Over the past year, he has become deeply invested in public service. He has held the position of congressional intern in the office of Representative Joseph Morelle, gaining experience in the legislative process. Additionally, he has worked for the William J. Perry Center for Hemispheric Defense Studies, studying Western Hemisphere defense.

Inna Saribekyan

I was born and raised in Yerevan, Armenia. After graduating from UWC Dilijan, I continued my education at St. Lawrence University, where I am majoring in Psychology and Political Science with a minor in Spanish. At St. Lawrence, I have also pursued international opportunities, including a study abroad program in Europe, which broadened my perspective on cultural diversity and global education.

Finn Murphy is a junior student-athlete at St. Lawrence University with a double major in political science and business with a minor in sports studies and exercise science while being a member of the football team. Along with his academics and athletes he works as the creative brand strategist for the SLU Women’s Hockey Team and a content creator, marketer, and social media manager for Saints Athletics.

Alexandra Dettor

Alexandra is a rising senior at St. Lawrence University, where she is double majoring in Political Science (with a concentration in International Relations) and History, with a minor in European Studies. My research examines how war and conflict affect women’s lived experiences, with particular attention to the negotiation, recognition, and denial of reproductive rights in conflict settings. I aspire to pursue a career in which I support and amplify minority voices globally, with the aim of advancing justice and contributing to sustainable peace.

Sophye Davey

My name is Sophye Davey, and I am from Darien, Connecticut. I am pursuing a double major in history and political science with a strong interest in historical preservation and using digitization to make history more accessible. My local history has shaped my sense of identity, and I am committed to helping others connect with their own communities' pasts in meaningful ways.

Sha'Neise Frazier '27

Sha'Neise is majoring in political science and philosophy and has a strong interest in social justice and political theory. She frequently reads books and ingests media that discuss intersectionality, poverty, and other systems of oppression. This is part of the reason why she chose to research affordable housing and its intersectional disparities.  

Alissa Lapentti Grünstein

Alissa Lapentti is an Economics and Political Science major with a Statistics minor, graduating in 2027. Her Ecuadorian and European background, along with six years living in Kenya and Tanzania, sparked her passion for sustainability, development, and international policy.

Emma Cross

Emma Cross is a member of the Class of 2026, majoring in Government and Psychology with a minor in Gender Studies. Her academic work, combined with hands-on leadership experience, has deepened her commitment to feminist political theory and its relevance to contemporary global politics. This fellowship opportunity will serve as the foundation for her Honors Thesis in Political Science, where her analysis of nationalism will extend to its political manifestations in the United States.

My name is Ralfs, and I am a Latvian. I grew up between a small town and the countryside before moving to the Japanese Alps to attend UWC ISAK. Now, I intend to double-major in Data Science and Political Science, and see where life takes me next.

Alex Ferguson

Alex Ferguson '26 is a Government and Performing Arts major from Guilford, Connecticut. He enjoys being an active part of the St. Lawrence Community. He serves on the executive boards of the SLU Democrats, the Performing Arts Collective, PPGA, and Advocates. He also serves as the Elections Chair for THELMO. As an Andrew Goodman Foundation Ambassador, Alex promotes civic engagement at SLU by helping other students register to vote and request absentee ballots. In his free time he plays the cello in the SLU String Orchestra and is involved in University Theatre as an actor and stage manager.

Nicole Franco

 Nicole is graduating with the class of 2025, majoring in Political Science and English. She is minoring in Gender & Sexuality studies, which constitutes the primary frameworks she employs in her academic writing and thinking. She is interested in using critical theory to understand how power shapes normative ways of thinking and knowing, literature, and politics.

Benjamin Roach

Benjamin Roach '25 is from West Hartford, CT where he graduated from Conard High School in 2021. He is majoring in Government with a hopeful minor in Canadian Studies. He is hoping for a career in some aspect of public service following his graduation in May 2025. During his time at SLU, Ben has been a four year member of the Men's Cross Country and Track and Field teams. He plays violin in the university Orchestra since his second semester of his first year, and has been part of the SLU student Government (Thelmo) for several semesters.

Peter C. Loud

I am an aspiring international leader who hopes to change the world through diplomacy and justice. I am a Critical Language Scholar specializing in Arabic, and I plan on studying in Africa, the Middle East, and around the world to help myself grow and improve at interacting with other cultures and people so I can be better prepared to help those worldwide. I plan on serving in the Peace Corps after I graduate from university, and then I anticipate attending graduate school at Sciences Po in France to study political science. I then hope to enter the State Department and begin my career.

Zach Jaworski

Zach Jaworski '24 is a Government major with minors in German Studies and Performance and Communication Arts. Zach interned with North Country Public Radio, where he produced democracy-related audio features, voter and election trends data reports and the impacts of local government policies. Zach is graduating in December 2024, and in his final semester he is looking to use the skills he learned at NCPR in his capacity as Editor-in-Chief of The Hill News, St. Lawrence's student newspaper. He will also continue to cover democracy for NCPR through the 2024 general elections.

Poppy Hanson

Poppy Hanson '25 is a Government and Business in the Liberal Arts major at St. Lawrence University. She is the Editor-in-chief of The Underground Magazine and the Opinions Editor for The Hill News. Poppy followed her passion of helping her community and engaging in governmental affairs this past summer while working as a legislative intern for the office of Honorable Representative Rosa L. DeLauro, who represents the third district in Connecticut. 

Shaun Kithinji

Shaun Kithinji is a sophomore planning to declare a double major in Economics and Government. He aspires to practice law and continues to immerse himself in opportunities in the legal field. Shaun interned at Anjarwalla & Khanna law firm, where he worked in the forensic, compliance, and risk department, providing advisory work to multinational and local companies. Shaun has a strong background in business practices such as marketing and management, which persuaded his interest in corporate law.

Eva Grover

Eva Grover ’24, from Hailey, Idaho, is pursuing a major in Government and minors in Economics and African Studies. Spring ’23 she participated in SLU’s Kenya Semester Program and completed an internship with the human rights organization HAKI Africa. Here on campus she is involved in a variety of honors societies and leadership positions such as ODK, PSA, and serves on the executive board for the Beta Beta Chapter of the Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority. Interested in multi-party politics, political corruption, and global democracy trends, she spent her summer under the advisory of Dr.

Aidan Atwell

Aidan Atwell '25 is a Political Science and History major interested in American history, legislation, advocacy, and law. He has completed a fellowship research project in History, and a congressional internship in Washington, D.C. He is pursuing a career in government or law.

Originally from El Salvador, I was born and raised there, with my educational journey beginning at Highlands International School San Salvador. In 2020, I proudly graduated from Highlands, marking the end of one chapter and the beginning of another at St. Lawrence University.
