Summer 2024
Description

In the summer of 2024, I spent 9 weeks interning in the Washington D.C. office of Congresswoman Elise Stefanik. I spent 4 of these weeks in the personal office, and 5 weeks in the GOP Conference Office. By spending time in both, I experienced both the constituent-facing and legislative side of the personal office and the party coordination and communications side of the leadership office.

This internship provided invaluable experience and insight into the daily operations of a House office. My responsibilities included answering constituent phone calls and taking down their concerns/issues, writing memos on and attending congressional hearings, leading tours of the Capitol, writing form letters for constituents, preparing rooms for meetings between members of Congress or staffers, and generally helping around the office as needed.

During this time, I connected with many current House and Senate staffers and others working in advocacy and lobbying groups in D.C., including many SLU alumni. In addition, I was able to explore D.C. and spend some time in the city where I am looking to start a career.
