This summer the SLU fellowship scholarship gave me the opportunity to work in Senator Patrick O'Connor's office. This incredible experience gave me the opportunity allowed me to create legislation for my home district while getting a chance to work at the Massachusetts Statehouse. Through the internship, I improved my problem-solving skills, as Greg my chief of staff would give me a legislative or constituent issue that I would have to address using my own methods. Secondly, Senator O'Connor's office was my first time in a professional office setting, With the help of the Senator and the rest of the team I learned how to effectively contribute to a professional setting. This experience allowed me to gain a deep understanding of state-level American politics, state-level politics is a refreshing change of pace to the national headlines as both sides of the aisle are doing their best to provide for their constituents rather than petty partisan politics.
