My name is Liya and I am from Kazakhstan, a former-soviet country; therefore, my first language is Russian. Other than my own home country, I lived in Malaysia and Singapore which is how I learned English. Hei.

Hello, my name is Suyeon Eom. People usually call me “Eommer.” I am from Seoul which is the capital city of South Korea. I can speak Korean and English. I am on SLU women’s hockey team. When I first came to SLU, I was shocked because the environment is totally different than where I am from. Comparing the two cities' populations, Seoul is a really big city with approximately 10 million people and only 6,500 people live in Canton.

Vyara Getahun

My name is Vyara (Вяра). I am from Sofia, Bulgaria. I am currently attending St. Lawrence University. I have not decided on a major yet. During the pandemic, I picked up an interest in makeup as it allows me to express myself and use my face as a canvas. I love reading about astrology, mythology, and witchcraft.

pho Hanoi

My name is Nguyen Ngoc Minh. I would prefer to be called Minh rather than my family name Nguyen. I am from Hanoi, Viet Nam. It is a small city in South East Asia with long history of thousand years old. I love my home city so much; It has nurtured me since I was a child and  my teenage years. Hanoi is where I was raised with compassion and generosity and taught to appreciate my community and different identities. Believe me, Hanoi's  transportation system and traffic jam system every morning and evening is terrible. You are risking your life taking part on the road.

Camila Gonzalez Herrera

My name is Camila and I'm from a small city in south-central Colombia called Neiva. I speak Spanish, English, and I’m in the process of becoming fluent in French. Though I’m from a small place, I always dreamed big. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not that I didn’t like it there, I just aimed for bigger things.

I am Lydia Oikonomou, and I come from beautiful Thessaloniki, Greece. If there is one thing about me that people agree on is my outgoing character and passion for everything that I like – actually, my passion for life itself. I guess this is only another reason why my favourite hero of all times is Odysseus. With all his yearn for adventure and discovering of new things, he subconsciously became the role model I have always wanted to follow.

I’m Martina Velásquez Lemaitre, I was born in Valencia, Venezuela but I’ve lived most of my life in Cali, Colombia. I love these countries beyond words but my favorite thing about them are their people. I hate generalizing but it does feel like they’re genuinely happy humans that value/enjoy the small precious things/moments of life. Eternal tropical summers, exotic fresh fruits, and salsa and vallenato music being played everywhere are aspects that define my childhood.

I am Sam Yang, a Chinese from Chengdu, China, studying in St. Lawrence University in Canton, NY, the United States of America. I can only speak Chinese and some English.

Jingchen Yu

I am Jingchen Yu, from Changsha, Hunan, China, a student in St. Lawrence University.

I was born and grown up in Changsha, which is a city located in south central of China, and the capital city of Hunan province. Changsha has more than 3000 years history, but all of the city destroyed in the World War II. However, these vicissitudes of Changsha build up unique spirits among all of the Changsha people. In fact, the spirits are carved in my bone. It is no matter how hard it is, we can endure them; and do to things flexible and impatience.
