Irem Tuana Ciftci '27 is a student at St. Lawrence University. She is originally from Turkey but also studied for two years at UWC East Africa in Tanzania. She is a Data Science and Sociology major, with a minor in Arabic Studies. She is interested in applying data science methods to tackle human rights issues, especially conflicts and freedom of speech. She plans to work in advocacy and policy-making for the MENA region after graduation.
My name is Elizabeth Poe, and I am from New Russia, New York. I am in the Class of 2026 at St. Lawrence University, where I am majoring in Sociology, minoring in Education. I am passionate in education and plan on entering the field as an elementary teacher.
In my free time I enjoy being outside, watching movies, and singing. I love spending time with my friends and practicing mindfulness activities.
Lily Welch, St. Lawrence University class of 2026, is a sociology major and education minor from Thetford, Vermont. On campus, she is a member of Campus Kitchens and Letters of Love, both of which she really enjoys! In the spring of 2024, she studied abroad in Kenya where she explored their country, interacted with locals, and much more. During her time in Kenya, she interned at community based organization, which is a survivor led human rights organization that has three shelters for survivors of sexual exploitation and abuse.
Sophia Brigante is a sociology major and education studies minor, planning to pursue a career in elementary education as a teacher, and eventually as a principal. She is president of the SLU Women's Club Rugby team and the student outreach chair of the Peer Health Network. She is from Colchester, Vermont.
Anna Wilkerson '24 is a Sociology major, Sports Studies & Exercise Science minor. On campus, she is a student trainer and a volunteer for the L.I.G.H.T. House - a theme house. In summer 2023, Anna conducted research about education inequalities in the medical field in collaboration with a research team in Copenhagen and Stockholm.
Jackson Hamilton '23 is a Sociology major minoring in Government with an interest in pursuing both politics and political science. After graduating from St. Lawrence, he is interested in pursuing a master's degree in the area of Public Policy, which he is hoping will give him a clearer picture of the political world we live in, as well as a better idea of career paths within the area of politics and political science.
Sage Lalor (she/her) is a St. Lawrence University student who is designing her own multi-field major called Equity Studies. She took part in the Adirondack Semester Program during the fall of 2021 and is currently studying abroad in Denmark. When on campus, she guides outdoor trips in the Adirondack Park, creates space for non-violent communication workshops, and does yoga and meditation with the Light House. When not in school she spends her time reading, journalling, playing outside, and dancing with friends.
My name is Shea Tomlinson and I am a member of the Class of 2024 at St. Lawrence University. I am majoring in sociology with a minor in public health. I take interest in the field of health policy and healthcare related concerns. In future years, I hope to continue to gain more exposure within the field of health policy.

Soccer is my number one sport and I'm part of St. Lawrence University's Men's soccer team. I have followed the sport ever since I can remember, my idols are Lionel Messi and Johan Cruijff. I am not sure if you might know this team but I support Ajax, which is a team from Amsterdam.
This past semester, fall 2017, I got the incredible opportunity to study abroad in London. And I was able to visit Berlin a week before the program started thanks to the generosity of the Cabot Family and their Endowment for International and Intercultural Education. The aim of my project was to try to analyze the street art scene in Berlin and how it affected people, and I thought Berlin was the perfect place to do so because it is a city overflowing with street art.
Iman Maani, ’22, is a recent graduate who majored in Global Studies and Sociology. She interned at North Country Public Radio and produced news stories on a variety of topics, including local Juneteenth celebrations and the 1970s feminist movement in upstate New York. Having worked as the opinions editor for The Hill News and a journalist and digital communications coordinator for Weave News, she has experience working in radio broadcasting, print and other forms of multimedia production.
