I graduated from SLU with the class of 2026, obtaining my B.A. in Environmental Studies and Sociology. During my time studying within these two departments, I developed a passion for food systems and regenerative agriculture. To serve as a culmination of my studies during my senior year, I applied a sociological lens to the issue of sustainability within our food system in my year long SYE (Senior Year Experience) project. I researched the influencing factors of dietary habits and preferences among college students, as well as perceptions of how dietary choices impact the environment. My research including designing and conducting a survey among SLU students, the results of which highlighted the array of factors that influence student's dietary choice, and how eating "sustainably" has nuances in it's definition and is not generally an accessible option for most students. I have continued to expand upon my knowledge of local/community driven food systems and regenerative agricultural practices this past summer during my fellowship position at littleGrasse Foodworks in Canton, NY. As I move forward with my career I hope to work with non-profit organizations that work to revitalize and restructure food systems in a manner that prioritizes environmental and human health, improving resiliency and accessibility.
