Cooper Anderson

Michael (Cooper) Anderson is a Computer Science major and Outdoor Studies minor at St. Lawrence University. As a St. Lawrence University Fellow, he has developed deep learning models for audio classification using TensorFlow and PyTorch. Cooper is also an experienced Teaching Assistant, helping students with programming languages and fundamental CS concepts. His leadership roles include serving as Treasurer for the St. Lawrence Outing Club and as a Wilderness EMT/guide for the Outing Program, managing outdoor excursions and providing emergency medical care.

Maggie Layman

My name is Maggie Layman, and I am from West Chester, Pennsylvania. I am in the Class of 2026 at St. Lawrence University, where I am majoring in Conservation Biology, minoring in Statistics and Outdoor Studies, and play for the Varsity Volleyball Team. I am passionate about conservation and ecology and plan to enter a career dedicated to studying and preserving systems involving wildlife, aquatic habitats, or forests. When I’m not studying the natural world, you will find likely still find me outside walking, hiking, biking, and more.

Sam Voter

Hello! My name is Sam and I am currently a senior at St. Lawrence University. I am majoring in Environmental Studies and minoring in Film and Outdoor Studies. At SLU, I live in the Greenhouse surrounded by people who are passionate about fixing our food system and cooking good food. I am from Cornville, Maine, and my passions include fly fishing, canoeing, wood working, and agriculture!

Annalise Panici

I am currently a junior at St Lawrence University studying creative writing and psychology. On campus I am coordinator and founder of our wellness program's SLU Flow Project, which engages students in functional movement to build community and practical nervous system regulation skills. I am also a member of the Lighthouse, which is a theme house living community dedicated to providing mental wellness resources to our campus (and the greater St Lawrence area).

Abigail Lateer

Abigail Lateer '24 is an English-Environmental Studies major interested in the power of food sovereignty to help disadvantaged communities, what it means to live sustainably, and the hybrid forms of literary journalism and creative nonfiction. She is looking to further the skills she developed in this internship by becoming certified in permaculture design!

Sage Lalor

Sage Lalor (she/her) is a St. Lawrence University student who is designing her own multi-field major called Equity Studies. She took part in the Adirondack Semester Program during the fall of 2021 and is currently studying abroad in Denmark. When on campus, she guides outdoor trips in the Adirondack Park, creates space for non-violent communication workshops, and does yoga and meditation with the Light House. When not in school she spends her time reading, journalling, playing outside, and dancing with friends. 

Audrey Bowman

Audrey Bowman '24 is a Geology major and is interested in a Physics and/or Outdoor Studies minor. Her areas of pursued expertise are glaciology, oceanography, and climatology. She hopes to study abroad in New Zealand at the University of Otago where she will take advanced classes in her areas of interest. Her passion for research will lead her to conduct research either at the University of Otago or through an internship. Her love for the outdoors leads her striving for proficiency in mountaineering skills and the chance to complete research in remote parts of the world.

Caroline Starace

Caroline Starace (she/her) is a senior at St. Lawrence University graduating in Fall 22 from Saratoga Springs, New York.  She is a Geology major and an Outdoor Studies minor. Caroline has plans to pursue a master's degree in Geology and is interested in structural geology and science communication. During her summer, Caroline studied six different landslides within the Marcy Anorthosite Massif, a geologic unit located in the High Peaks Region of the Adirondack Mountains.

Edward Hallahan

Edward "Ned" Hallahan is in the class of 2021. He's a philosophy major who is hoping to go to pursue a P.H.D in philosophy. At SLU he's done the Adirondack Semester and studied abroad in Kenya. He's done another research project collecting oral histories of Adirondack artists. He's also worked for North Country Public Radio. Ned is interested in environmental ethics. On-campus, he lives in the Arts Annex, is the treasurer of woodcarving club, and is part of Divest SLU.
