Sophia Wirtz ’27 is a Business and Global Studies double major with a minor in Public Health at St. Lawrence University. Her interests focus on nonprofit leadership, global health, and the ways organizations can improve access to care and support for families. During her internship with the Heartfelt Dreams Foundation, she contributed to fundraising, donor outreach, patient storytelling, scholarship review, and planning for the organization’s charity golf tournament.
Ruby Bradford ’27 is a Global Studies and History double major, with minors in African and European Studies. Her passion for fostering international connections stems from ten years spent sailing around the world before relocating to Maine in 2020. Ruby has continued to build this global foundation by studying abroad in Kenya and the Netherlands, and conducting research in Sweden as a SLU Fellow. These immersive experiences provide her with a unique perspective on how diverse national contexts shape responses to global challenges.
Hello! My name is Mathilda and I am a recent graduate from St. Lawrence University. I majored in Global Studies with a minor in Public Health and Spanish. I am interested in working with local food systems to promote healthy communities. My experience with farming has opened my eyes to the importance of good food for overall health. I am hoping to utilize the skills and ideologies I learned this summer to define my future path in food sovereignty work. My hobbies include cooking yummy food and reading fiction.
I am a Senior at St. Lawrence, a double major in Global Studies & Business major and double minor in Francophone and European Studies. On campus I am a member of the Women's Track and Field team, Chi Omega, SAAC, a peer advisor in the Center for International and Intercultural Studies, and hold exec positions in Club Figure Skating and Athletes for Athletes. After graduation I am looking to pursue a career in Business and Finance with particular interest in M&A and international business.
Nathan Inecia ’26 is a Global Studies major from Curaçao interested in representations of former colonial powers in heritage institutions and museums. Having grown up around sites of Dutch colonial influence, analysis of these sites for his project came as a necessity. His project took him to relevant sites in Ghana and The Netherlands, culminating in his final site visit to his home country Curaçao. The data collected at each site stand as the backbone for his senior year thesis.
Evangeline Norman '26 is an Economics and Global Studies major concentrating in Global Development with particular interest in education and political economy. Her research into the contemporary relevance of the Ingenious Residential School System in North America addresses these numerous interests. Her research over the course of summer 2025, which explores the relationship between the Indigenous Residential School System and national identity, is the first phase of her honors thesis in Global Studies which is to be completed in Spring 2026.
Nabila is the first Indonesian undergraduate student at St. Lawrence University, double majoring in English and Global Studies. Born in Philadelphia and raised in Indonesia, she proudly carries her Indonesian heritage and unique cross-cultural identity. Nabila spent six transformative years living and studying at a pesantren (Islamic boarding school), an experience that shaped her deep appreciation for education, resilience, and community.
I am a first-generation Mexican-American student, born and raised in the Bronx, New York, majoring in Global Studies and Hispanic Studies, with a minor in Caribbean, Latin American, and Latino Studies. I am part of the class of 2025 and cohort of HEOP and C-Step, on the pre-law track with a focus on international human rights law. In the summer of 2022, I interned at the St. Lawrence County Public Defenders office, supported by C-Step funding. Rosalyn León Urbano ’26 is from Lima, Peru. She is double majoring in Global Studies and Economics, focusing on Environmental and Latino-American Studies. She plans to specialize in the area of sustainable development and human rights in the region of Latin America.
Fernanda is originally from Oaxaca, Mexico. Throughout her life she has developed a strong passion for social justice, feminism, public health and education. Therefore, she completed her undergraduate degree in Global Studies, specializing in Governance and Education at St. Lawrence University in Canton, New York, USA. Hola! I'm Sofia Macero Piñango. I'm an international student from Venezuela, and back in 2020, I studied at UWC Mostar in Bosnia and Herzegovina until 2022. My experiences, both back home and in Bosnia, encouraged me to explore my interests in politics, peace-building process, and migration. As a Global Studies and Political Science major, my passion for politics has taken me to participate in multiple opportunities available on campus, such as the diplomacy lab, NYC semester program, and summer fellowship along with Professor Ustun.
My name is Mariam. I am a current senior from Pakistan majoring in Global Studies with a minor in English. I love travelling and have been fortunate enough to get the opportunity to travel and live in different countries in both high school and university. Before coming to St. Lawrence, I studied in Changshu, China (around 1.5 hours from Shanghai) where I got to meet people from all around the world, study Chinese history and culture, and learn Mandarin. While in St. Lawrence, I did two semesters off campus; Bordeaux during Spring 2020 and London in Spring 2022.
I am a rising junior at St Lawrence University majoring in global studies with a topical focus in environmental studies or peace studies and a geographical focus on southeast Asia. I’m pursuing minors in public health and sociology, as I hope to do social justice and non-profit work in grassroots organizing and advocacy.
Toky currently pursues a double major in Political Science and International Relations at St. Lawrence University. In Summer 2022 she participated in the Bard Globalization and International Affairs Program in New York City and a Program intern at Network 20/20. In Summer 2021, Toky was an intern at the Economic Board of Madagascar, where she helped coordinate various regions on “Mandrisika”, an alleviation Program aiming to help tourism sector in Madagascar impacted by the pandemic.
Jessica Tom '24 is currently a junior at St. Lawrence University. She is majoring in Global Studies, with a concentration in Asia. Jessica is interested in pursuing a career in journalism. Because of this interest, Jessica is working as a news editor at The Hill News, continuing what she has learned with NCPR. Her goal is to find another internship relating to journalism in the future.
Ángeles Zúñiga is a candid human rights advocate from Puerto Ordaz, Venezuela. She graduated from St. Lawrence University in 2022, with a major in Global Studies and a double minor in Film and Education. She is also a UWC ISAK Japan alumna, Semester at Sea alumna, and Davis Scholar. During her entire senior year, Ángeles enrolled in the Career Services Internship Course, and was a Detained Units Intern for the Northwest Immigrant Rights Project.
My main areas of academic focus and activism are climate change and communication. I come from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and have lived in Trieste, Italy where I attended UWC Adriatic. I have three years of experience in citizen journalism, that includes written pieces, podcast and social media work. I was a speaker at the Critical Media Literacy Conference of the Americas 2021 and was invited to the UN Headquarters in New York City to share my thoughts on youth's engagement in 2019.
