Lindsay Fortner '28, is a Psychology major with a minor in Gender and Sexuality Studies. Lindsay is intrigued by psychological theory that interprets gender differences within society.
Lindsay has dedicated multiple years to caring for individuals with developmental disabilities. This job inspired Lindsay to dive into the psychological mechanisms which explain how society responds to people with disabilities (PWD) and its struggle to cater to their needs.
Lindsay is an active member of the Advocates Program at St. Lawrence University, which aims to provide support to students in crisis situations. Her involvement has equipped her with skills that will be useful for her future career in the field, such as trauma-informed care, collaboration, and crisis response.
Utilizing the tools from her internship experience, Lindsay plans to complete an independent research project analyzing both gender differences and societal expectations which influence decision-making.
