Dylan Crockford '27 is a double major in Philosophy and English (Creative Writing) whose research interests center on ethics and moral philosophy, particularly how formal frameworks can be tested against, and refined by, ordinary moral intuition. His summer research project, completed under the guidance of Dr. Richard Lauer, reconstructs the concept of evil by examining and revising Claudia Card's Atrocity Paradigm. Alongside his analytical work, Crockford writes poetry deeply rooted in the landscape of the Adirondacks, and finds that his best thinking, whether philosophical or creative, happens outdoors. He plans to continue engaging with questions in ethics and moral philosophy through further projects during his senior year, while continuing to develop his poetry alongside this analytical work.
