During my time with the Cape Cod Baseball League’s Bourne Braves, I gained hands-on experience shooting a total of 47 games over 62 days. My responsibilities included meeting strict deadlines, collaborating with fellow interns, and capturing content of fans, players, interns, and everything happening around the ballpark. I worked closely with the social media team to create a consistent brand identity throughout the season while also expanding my creative horizons by finding new ways to shoot, edit, and share my content. I not only strengthened my photography skills, but also learned how to collaborate with others, communicate effectively, and adapt to a professional work environment.
My goal was to capture both the action and everything that happens behind the scenes, the emotion, the excitement, the good, and the bad. I worked to avoid getting stuck in the repetitive cycle of shooting the same players at the same field every game, so I was constantly looking for new ideas and creative ways to execute them. This challenged me to think differently about sports photography and pushed me to find unique stories and moments throughout the season.
Overall, my experience with the Bourne Braves allowed me to grow not only as a photographer, but also as a creative and professional. It gave me the opportunity to combine my passion for sports and media while challenging me to step outside of my comfort zone and continue developing my skills. I am grateful for the experience and the people I worked with, and I look forward to carrying what I learned this summer into future opportunities in sports and creative media.
