During my internship at iHeartMedia, I worked with the Product Data Analytics team to develop data-driven solutions that support product decision-making. My primary responsibility was designing and building the Mobile Cheat Sheetdashboard, a centralized tool for the Product team to monitor key mobile engagement metrics. This involved writing and optimizing data queries, creating derived properties in Amplitude, and selecting the most relevant variables to ensure clarity and usability. I applied iterative feedback to enhance the dashboard’s functionality and added additional charts to provide deeper insights for stakeholders.
I also contributed to weekly A/B testing processes by analyzing statistical results recorded in Amplitude and preparing concise reports summarizing key findings. These reports helped product managers evaluate experiment outcomes and make data-backed decisions.
In addition, I participated in a practice project replicating an Adobe Analytics dashboard designed by a senior team member, which strengthened my skills in visualization logic, layout design, and translating raw data into actionable insights. I also supported a cross-functional intern group project by contributing analytics and platform data for a partnership pitch.
Through this experience, I gained hands-on expertise in data manipulation, dashboard creation, and user behavior analysis using tools such as Amplitude, Adobe Analytics, and SQL. I also developed stronger cross-functional communication skills by collaborating with both technical and non-technical teams, learning to present complex findings clearly. This internship not only advanced my technical proficiency but also deepened my understanding of how analytics drives product innovation in a large-scale media organization.
As a highlight, we even had the chance to meet iHeartMedia’s CEO, Bob Pittman, who shared valuable career wisdom and insights about leadership in the media industry.
