Major:
Environmental Studies – Government
Semester:
Spring 2021
Description

As an intern at Sustainable House, I was fortunate to have the opportunity to work directly with Michael who owned the company. During the time at my internship, I helped Michael in writing blog posts that went out to followers of his website. I also helped Michael in doing research for the Sustainability consulting he did on a whole bunch of different issues.
The journey of my internship experience with Michael was unforgettable. At first, I was daunted by the task of working with somebody virtually in a different time zone. Especially as one as crazy as Sydney! However, as I matured through the internship my ability to work alongside Michael became easier. I was extremely fortunate to be placed at an internship that fell in line directly with my passion. As a Government and Environmental Studies Major, I was looking to combine the skills that I had acquired at St. Lawrence so far. This internship allowed me to do so perfectly with the opportunity to work in sustainability consulting. I was fortunate to be able to get hands-on experience researching and helping Michael run his day-to-day operations. This was a truly unforgettable experience and primed for many of the experiences that I felt I would encounter in the working world. Furthermore, I was able to gain significant cultural competency with the ability to work and adapt to a different culture.
