Guest Experience Department
Support
During my summer internship as a Guest Experience Attendant in the Hersheypark Leadership Development Internship, I worked directly with guests to help create positive and memorable experiences throughout their visits. My responsibilities included welcoming guests, answering questions, assisting with ticket and Season Pass needs, managing stroller and wheelchair rentals, and helping resolve guest concerns. I also learned to use the Galaxy ticketing system and became familiar with the daily operations and procedures of the Guest Experience Department.
A major part of my experience was learning how to communicate effectively with guests, especially when they were frustrated or upset. I developed my ability to listen, remain calm under pressure, de-escalate difficult situations, and find appropriate solutions. I also worked closely with my coworkers and supervisors, which strengthened my teamwork, communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
Throughout the internship, I was challenged to step outside of my comfort zone and become more confident in my abilities. I learned that leadership is not only about having a title, but also about taking initiative, supporting others, staying positive, and being dependable. This experience gave me a deeper understanding of how a large entertainment organization operates and how many different people and departments work together to create a successful guest experience. Most importantly, the internship helped me grow personally and professionally while giving me valuable experience that I can carry into my future career.
