Lily Welch, St. Lawrence University class of 2026, is a sociology major and education, gender and sexuality studies and African studies minor from Thetford, Vermont. On campus, she is a member of Campus Kitchens and Letters of Love, both of which she really enjoys! In the spring of 2024, she studied abroad in Kenya where she explored their country, interacted with locals, and much more. During her time in Kenya, she interned at community based organization, which is a survivor led human rights organization that has three shelters for survivors of sexual exploitation and abuse. After returning home, she began an internship at the Upper Valley Haven, a private non-profit that aims to decrease food insecurity and homelessness. In the spring of 2025, she studied off campus in Washington, D.C., where she interned with the International Rescue Committee. At the IRC, she worked with refugee and asylee children helping them adapt to the U.S. school system. After graduation, she hopes to return to Washington, D.C. and work for an NGO!
