My name is Kynaat Beg, and I'm an international student from Islamabad, Pakistan. I am in the Class of 2029 and hope to pursue a combined major in Political Science and Environmental Studies, with a double major in Economics.
For high school, I attended a boarding school in Hong Kong and then took a gap year, during which I traveled to over 10 countries. I got to swim with dolphins in the Brazilian Amazon and see the great mosques of Turkey. It was truly a life-changing experience.
This summer, I interned at North Country Public Radio, where I traveled to multiple places in the North Country to interview people about their work and life stories. This was part of the station's North Country at Work segment, which aims to preserve the stories of people's livelihoods in the region.
Working there, I learned how important community is in rural places. There are many hardships to staying in this region, but people make it work in order to stay close to those who have supported them, and continue to support them. Everyone has their own story, but it's clear that with community, people will make it work.
