Hello, my name is Suyeon Eom. People usually call me “Eommer.” I am from Seoul which is the capital city of South Korea. I can speak Korean and English. I am on SLU women’s hockey team. When I first came to SLU, I was shocked because the environment is totally different than where I am from. Comparing the two cities' populations, Seoul is a really big city with approximately 10 million people and only 6,500 people live in Canton. In the beginning, I had a hard time adjusting to the new culture, but the SLU community welcomed me with open arms, so I could settle in.
Dana workers provide diverse foods for students coming from many different cultures. I appreciate that I can try all the different kinds of foods that Dana serves us. However, my favorite food is Korean food because there are various flavors in Korean food. Korean food is always my first choice.

안녕하세요, 저의 이름은 엄수연 입니다. 사람들은 저를 "Eommer" 라고 부르고는 합니다. 저는 한국의 수도인 서울에서 왔습니다. 저는 한국어와 영어를 할 수 있습니다. 저는 SLU 아이스 하키팀에 소속되어 있습니다. 제가 처음 SLU 에 왔을 때, 제가 살던 곳과는 환경이 달라 놀랐던 기억이 있습니다. 서울은 굉장히 큰 도시입니다. 대략 천 만 명의 사람이 서울에 살고 있습니다. 대략 6,500 명이 살고있는 이곳 Canton 과 비교하면 서울에는 많은 사람들이 밀집해 있습니다. 따라서, 처음에는 새로운 환경에 적응하기 힘들었지만, SLU 가 반갑게 맞이 해준 덕분에 이곳에 잘 적응할 수 있었습니다.
Dana 식당에서 일 하시는 분들은 항상 학생들에게 다양하고 맛있는 음식을 제공 해 주시려고 열심히 일 하고 계십니다. 항상 감사한 마음입니다. 그렇지만, 저는 한국음식을 가장 좋아합니다. 왜냐하면, 한국음식에도 다양한 맛이 존재하기 때문입니다. 한국음식은 항상 저의 첫 번째 선택지 입니다.
