My name is Ralfs, and I am a Latvian. I grew up between a small town and the countryside before moving to the Japanese Alps to attend UWC ISAK. Now, I intend to double-major in Data Science and Political Science, and see where life takes me next.

İrem Tuana Çiftçi

Irem Tuana Ciftci '27 is a student at St. Lawrence University. She is originally from Turkey but also studied for two years at UWC East Africa in Tanzania. She is a Data Science and Sociology major, with a minor in Arabic Studies. She is interested in applying data science methods to tackle human rights issues, especially conflicts and freedom of speech. She plans to work in advocacy and policy-making for the MENA region after graduation.

Valeria Escrich

I am a Data Science major at St. Lawrence University, originally from El Salvador. Before St. Lawrence, I attended UWC Mostar in Bosnia and Herzegovina. On campus, I serve as the President of La Sociedad, an organization dedicated to celebrating Latin American culture. I am also a Community Assistant, actively involved with the Center for Career Excellence and the Dining Services marketing team. Additionally, I work as a Statistics Peer Tutor. I’m excited to leverage my diverse experiences and data science skills to make a meaningful impact in my field.

Kassandra (Kasey) Wood

My name is Kasey Wood and I am a senior at St. Lawrence University. I come from a small town in midcoast Maine and started my journey at St. Lawrence during the COVID-19 pandemic. I have always been drawn to mathematics as a subject since I was little, but was not introduced to a statistics or computer science class until I started at SLU. As soon as I took the intro courses for those departments I knew I would be a data science major, the perfect combination of math, statistics, and computer science. And I am a sociology minor. Sarah Weaver

Sarah Weaver (she/her/hers), born and raised in Norwood, New York, is a member of the Class of 2024 at St. Lawrence University with a major in Data Science. Her current student fellowship research is a part of the NSF Grant SCORE which utilizes sports statistics to create educational modules for public use. Outside of her academic interests, Sarah is the Public Relations chair for the Association of Campus Entertainment (ACE), works as the treasurer of the Arts Annexand is the treasurer of the St. Lawrence University Performing Arts Collective. 

Macallister Ballaine

I am a senior at St. Lawrence University. I am from Seattle, Washington and am a Data Science major with a Communications minor. Outside of the classroom I am president of the Delta Delta Delta sorority on campus and a Student Ambassador for Admissions. In my spare time I like to long distance run and am running the New York City marathon in November.

Series: Summer 2022 - Research Fellowships

Grace Bridge '24 is from Syracuse, New York, and is double majoring in Data Science and Francophone Studies. On campus, Grace is a member of the women's soccer team, an admissions ambassador, and an employee at the athletic center. As a Clare Boothe Luce scholar for the summer of 2022, Grace was able to study sentiment and network analysis through the program of R with Dr. Ivan Ramler.

Hope Donoghue

Projects

Hope Donoghue is from River Forest, IL and is a member of the Class of 2024 at St. Lawrence University. She is majoring in data science and minoring in mathematics. In the summer of 2022, Donoghue conducted research with Dr. Ivan Ramler on network analysis. She investigated through statistical models what connections or aspects of teammate interactions lead to higher winning percentages for Liberty League soccer teams. On campus, Donoghue is a member of the women's soccer team and also a mentor at the Peterson quantitative resource center.

George Charalambous

My name is George Charalambous. I come from a small island in the Mediterranean Sea, named Cyprus. I grew up with my parents and my younger brother in Nicosia, the capital of the island, where I attended elementary, middle and high school. The year after my graduation from high school, I served the army  for 14 months before joining St. Lawrence University. I can speak Greek, as my first language, and English.
