IT Intern - Tahincioglu Constraction Company

During the summer of 2024, I undertook an internship at Tahincioglu, a prominent construction company in Istanbul. In my IT role, I was responsible for ensuring seamless database connectivity and functionality at various construction sites. This involved regular site visits to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, which enhanced my skills in database management and cybersecurity.

Forensics, Risk & Compliance Intern - Anjarwalla & Khanna (A&K)

Interning at Anjarwalla & Khanna provided me with experience in forensics, compliance, and risk management. This 8-week internship at A&K provided opportunities for applied learning. I gained an understanding of the internal structure of law firms, including the strategies and objectives that drive the success of large corporate firms. I attended trainings that developed vital skills, such as information and privacy security management, cyber security, and the digital admission of evidence, adapting to the new age of legal practice.

Intern - United States Marshals Service

I was an intern within the Asset Forfeiture Division of the United States Marshals Service, which oversees the nearly $5.5 billion Asset Forfeiture Fund. As a member of the Personal Property Unit, we were primarily responsible for the seizure, management, and liquidation of criminal assets. The overriding goal of the program is to ensure financial restitution for victims, funding of Department of Justice initiatives, and denying criminals of their ill gotten gains.

Conservation Intern at Connecticut's Beardsley Zoo

During my time at Connecticut's Beardsley Zoo (CBZ), I had several different forms of responsibility. I was responsible for providing animal care to the zoo's brook trout and eastern hellbenders. Additionally, I participated in several field research projects like horseshoe crab tagging as a part of Project Limulus, Candian goose banding with the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP), and trolling the Long Island Sound with Connecticut's Beardsley Zoo CDC corp students and the Sound School.

Visiting Bioarchaeology Fieldwork Student with University of New Brunswick

The University of New Brunswick partners with Parks Canada in the excavation of human remains from the Fortress of Louisbourg National Historic Site. The site used to be an 18th century settlement of alternatingly French and English settlers, and their placement of one of their cemeteries on the coast and the subsequent coastal erosion that has occurred over the past couple hundred years has put the bodies in danger of eroding into the ocean and washing up on the shore. Recognizing Capabilities in Early Childhood Education and Care

This summer, Ngoc researched Philosophy of Childhood, focusing on Early Childhood Development. Her paper titled Recognizing Capabilities in Early Childhood Education and Care: A Necessary Condition for Child's Flourishing briefly introduces the expedition to promoting the capabilities approach, which aspires to uncover children's true capabilities in their early development. During her study abroad semester in Denmark, Ngoc was exposed to a completely different educational approach being adopted in the Danish school system.
