Connor Shea is a Digital Media and Film student whose work blends critical analysis, creative production, and community engagement. For a summer fellowship, he analyzed 30 films—from Full Metal Jacket (1987) to The Creator (2023)—mapping shifts in war cinema from embodied soldiering to algorithmic targeting. Using critical mapping, contextual analysis, and film theory, his research explored how digital technologies reshape the visibility, intimacy, and abstraction of violence, comparing Hollywood and international perspectives.
Connor also produced a documentary on food sovereignty in New York’s North Country, spotlighting Bittersweet Milkweed Collaborative and their sustainable practices as well as the unique connection between the farmers, land, animals and the people they feed. From Connecticut, he serves as co-president of Campus Kitchens, a student organization combating food insecurity and food waste in the Canton community. Across both research and filmmaking, Connor is committed to understanding how images influence perception, how narratives shape power, and how media can foster meaningful social change.
