My name is Benjamin Preece-Santos, and I am a Junior at St. Lawrence University, majoring in Cellular Neuroscience on a pre-medical track. He is the founder and acting president of the St. Lawrence University Neuroscience Club, where the mission is to create opportunities for students interested in neuroscience, medicine, and research to connect with professionals and gain exposure to the field. Benjamin has conducted research at Brown University in the Laboratory of Molecular Microbiology under Dr. Jack A. Elias, contributing experimental data. He asl composed an independent review paper on the role of Chi3L1 modulation in glioblastomas under the guidance of Dr. Steven A. Toms. His work has focused on tumor immunology, macrophage polarization, and the tumor microenvironment, with a strong interest in translational applications for immunotherapy. Looking ahead, Benjamin plans to pursue a master’s degree in Molecular Microbiology before applying to an MD-PhD program. His long-term goal is to specialize in neurosurgery while conducting research in neuro-oncology, as he hopes to combine clinical practice with scientific investigation to advance cancer immunotherapy.
