I was looking for an internship for this past summer, and on handshake came across a media internship with Roots, which was working with SOS Animal located in Santarem, Portugal. I applied and the next thing I knew, I was accepted and offered a spot. I was at SOS Animal for the whole month of July. During my time there, I learned about how to care for all sorts of animals and took care of them every day. During this process, I was also taking photos and videos to later edit and make video collages for their TikTok and Instagram. This was not only helping them promote the amazing acts of goodness they are doing, but also helps get funding as well as possible adopters. One specific project I helped organize was creating a funding page for their organization, which was to raise money for this dream dog cabin vision. They started this project but weren't able to finish, so I decided to take tons of videos and shots of cabins and the area around to make a powerful, compelling message to encourage people to help SOS Animal achieve this dream. This experience taught me that the media is a powerful tool and with good intentions, so much good will follow.
