Support
In the summer of 2026, I interned with Elysian Compostable, a sustainable packaging startup based in Bethesda, MD, as part of my Washington Semester Program. I worked as a Sustainability Intern on the company's sourcing and growth strategy, supporting the team with research and business development.
This internship gave me valuable insight into how an early-stage startup builds its market position and operations. My responsibilities included conducting analysis benchmarking Elysian against other companies in the space, researching hemp fiber supply chains and sourcing partners, and drafting content for the company's application to a mentorship program for early-stage science- and technology-based startups.
Throughout the summer, I connected with professionals working in environmental fields and policy in D.C. This internship allowed me to gain hands-on experience in the startup world, better understand how sustainability intersects with business strategy, grow my professional network, and explore the city of Washington, D.C.
