Born in Iran, Anahita Karimishahir ’28 is a Physics major, Davis Scholar, and varsity coxswain at St. Lawrence University. Her international education, culminating in an IB Diploma from UWC Robert Bosch College in Germany, has fostered a commitment to both technical skill and community service. On the water, she is responsible for the strategic and managerial leadership of her crew team. On campus, she is the incoming president of the Society of Physics Students and has worked as a German tutor and research assistance. She has also applied her skills globally, co-organizing anti-racism events in Germany and serving as director of communications for the UWC Iran National Committee, coordinating dozens of international contracts.
Anahita's latest project, "Bringing Electricity to Life," focuses on her passion to allow students to directly explore the physics of electricity production. The hands-on setup, which features a Savonius wind turbine, was developed to bridge the gap between textbook theory and real-world application, particularly in the field of renewable energy. Anahita hopes to inspire a greater interest in sustainable technologies and plans to pursue further research into novel methods for physics education and energy harvesting.
