Technical Assistant- Soil Erosion and Sediment Control Program

My position within the soil district was akin to an entry level inspector. The agency's goal is to conserve soil and water resources and prevent soil erosion in New Jersey. The majority of my work involved entering in Hydraulic and Hydrologic Data into a state-wide reporting system. By the end of my internship, I became proficient with reading and interpreting detailed construction plans for stormwater management systems. Field work several days a week included onsite inspections to see previously constructed stormwater basins and basins currently under construction. These inspections helped to solidify my understanding of these systems including their overall importance of protecting the environment.
