Stanzin Idga

I am Stanzin Idga, from Ladakh, a newly formed Union Territory of India. I am Buddhist and I speak Ladakhi, Tibetan, Hindi and English. I am currently a senior at St. Lawrence University, majoring in Neuroscience and minoring in Public Health.

Who am I? I am more than the air I breathe, the food I eat, the clothes I wear or the skin color I have. I am more than the defined borders (Ladakh, India). Should my identity be defined by rural assumptions, stereotypes regarding the Schedule Tribe group and gender/ reservation categories of the structural system in India? Is my identity a performative act? Am I a product of the society? Should I be laid back most of the time, not for who I am but for how I look (Mongolian race)?  I am not just my name (Stanizn Idga), my culture (Ladakhi Culture) or my language (Tibetan). I am a Global Citizen?

Hindi Language

मैं भारत के केंद्र शासित प्रदेश लद्दाख से स्टैनज़िन इडगा हूँ। मैं बौद्ध हूँ और मैं धाराप्रवाह तीन भाषाएँ बोलता हूँ; लद्दाखी, तिब्बती, हिंदी और अंग्रेजी। मैं सेंट लॉरेंस यूनिवर्सिटी में सीनियर हूं, न्यूरोसाइंस और पब्लिक हेल्थ में पढ़ाई कर रहा हूं ।मैं कौन हूँ? मैं जिस हवा में सांस लेता हूं, उससे ज्यादा मैं खाना खाता हूं, मैं जो कपड़े पहनता हूं या जो त्वचा का रंग है, उससे ज्यादा मैं हूं। मैं बोर्डर्स की परिभाषित (लद्दाख, भारत) से अधिक हूं। क्या मान्यताओं (ग्रामीण), रूढ़ियों (अनुसूची जनजाति) और संरचनात्मक प्रणाली की श्रेणियां (आरक्षण / लिंग) मेरी पहचान पर लागू होती हैं? क्या मेरी पहचान एक प्रदर्शनकारी कार्य है? क्या मैं समाज का उत्पाद हूं? क्या मुझे ज्यादातर समय वापस रखा जाना चाहिए। न कि मैं कौन हूं, लेकिन मैं कैसे दिखता हूं? मैं सिर्फ अपना नाम (स्टेनिज़न इदगा), अपनी संस्कृति (लद्दाखी संस्कृति) या अपनी भाषा (तिब्बती) नहीं हूं। मैं एक ग्लोबल सिटीजन हूं ।
