Minor:

Hello, my name is Paige Bertram ’26. I am a student at St. Lawrence University, double majoring in Psychology and English with a minor in Public Health. I have a strong passion for helping those who feel lost or hopeless by providing both emotional support and practical assistance. Initially, I structured my education around the goal of becoming a forensic psychologist, with the intention of working with individuals in the criminal justice system whose severe mental illness prevents them from fully understanding their actions or circumstances and getting them the help they need, instead of incarcerating them. This passion led me to pursue and secure an internship with the St. Lawrence County Public Defender’s Office. However, that experience, along with personal life experiences, shifted my focus toward a career in social work.

Upon this realization, I secured an internship with the Seaway Valley Prevention Council, where I gained experience in substance use prevention, community outreach, health promotion, and recovery support. This experience strengthened my passion for advocacy, early prevention, and empowering individuals by recognizing their unique experiences and connecting them with resources. I now plan to pursue my MSW degree in social work, intending to become a licensed clinical social worker and build a career in medical social work.
