Summer 2024
Description

During my fellowship I took advantage of the opportunity to dive deeply into the ethics of care, a subject that since I first read about it, had held great significance to me, both academically and on a personal level. By doing this, I was able to engage with many philosophical concepts, authors, and articles that I would have probably never been introduced to within a traditional classroom setting. One of the most valuable aspects that I took from this experience was learning how to structure and be in charge of my own research project. I also took advantage of the agency a project like this gave me, the ability to explore the concepts and ideas that I felt were most important, guided by where my research led me.

With the help of my mentor, Jeffrey Maynes, I was able to build a space to further my passion for engaging in dialogue, more specifically about philosophical ideas, which was a big help for understanding the topics that were in front of me. Overall, I am proud of the paper I produced and the research that led me to it, as I believe the ethics of care can bring positive change in how we approach our lives and the interactions we have with others.
