I am Khalid Kitito, a Muslim from Mombasa, Kenya, working with National Museums of Kenya as a Coordinator at National Museums of Kenya Heritage Training Institute. I speak fluently three languages; Digo, Swahili and English.

From 2015-2018, I taught Swahili and Out of America: Exploring Global Cultures and Identity at SLU where we ultimately concluded that culture is different and NOT weird.

I cook and am not hesitant to explore new recipes. My favorite food is ugali, sukuma wiki and marinated fish, though cannot avoid chapatti and coconut beans during special occasions.

My research interest include language, culture, and literature and film study. Soon I will finish my PhD in Swahili linguistics. I am a soccer fan of Liverpool.

My philosophy in life is “live longer, and die longer” to make a positive change in life. I believe in positive thinking. I was happy to visit ESOL 201 and 202 during November 2019.

Kiswahili
