Support
This past summer, I had the opportunity to work as an Investment Banking Intern, where I supported both buy-side and sell-side mandates across a variety of industries. My internship lasted throughout the summer months, and it provided me with invaluable exposure to the inner workings of the deal process from origination to execution.
I was eager to take on this role as it marked an important step in my career journey in finance. The internship consisted of several core responsibilities that challenged me to apply my analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to communicate effectively with both clients and internal teams. Throughout my experience, I helped source strategic acquisition targets and prospective buyers based on client objectives. This required not only research and industry analysis but also developing an understanding of how strategic and financial buyers evaluate potential opportunities.
In addition to sourcing, I was responsible for preparing and distributing marketing materials, including teasers and InvOps, to drive early-stage buyer engagement. These materials had to be concise yet compelling, highlighting the most important aspects of the opportunity to spark initial interest. I also assisted in creating a confidential information memorandum (CIM), which was later presented to a $7B+ global leader in fragrances and beauty ingredients. Being trusted with such a significant responsibility allowed me to sharpen both my technical skills and my ability to communicate complex financial and strategic concepts in a clear, professional manner.
This internship not only enhanced my financial modeling and research abilities, but also gave me a greater appreciation for the collaborative nature of investment banking. I learned how to balance multiple projects at once, manage tight deadlines, and communicate effectively with senior bankers and clients. Perhaps most importantly, it reinforced my desire to pursue a career in financial services. The opportunity to directly contribute to live deals and see the tangible impact of my work was extremely rewarding and it solidified my passion for the industry.
