This summer, I had the privilege of interning for Westchester County Executive Kenneth Jenkins, an experience that gave me a deeper understanding of both Westchester County and the role of local government.
Throughout the internship, I worked with various county departments and contributed to initiatives such as developing “Lunch and Learn” programs designed to inform residents about county services. (Recordings of these sessions can be found here: https://www.westchestergov.com/home/all-press-releases/10561-westchester-county-launches-virtual-lunch-and-learn-series.
As interns, we also had the opportunity to explore Westchester’s resources firsthand. Our tours included the County Waste Management Facility, the Material Recovery Facility, the Fire Training Center, and several award-winning Parks and Recreation sites.
This internship not only showcased the wide variety of services that Westchester County provides but also helped me strengthen my communication, research, and public speaking skills.
