During my time at SPEAR physical therapy - Times Square Center for the Performing Arts, I had the privilege to assist physical therapists, while learning about dance and performer - specific treatment in the field. I kept the clinic organized and clean, while setting up for patient exercises and assisting in cueing. Additionally, I checked on patients throughout their visit, measuring their response to treatment and providing modalities intermittently. To assist the therapists, I scribed patient exercises, and functioned as a helping hand in whatever needed to be done around the clinic. I gained knowledge on how to modify general exercises or treatment plans for dancers, in order to provide them with a tailored, speedy recovery process. I observed the nature of prioritizing a performer's comfort, while balancing the necessity of allowing them to still participate in their artform, as many patients were Broadway performers. The physical therapists that work at this clinic hold the job I aspire to have, making this experience invaluable to me.
