During my internship with the Cotuit Kettleers I was able to work in the highest level of collegiate summer baseball in the world. Throughout my work I had to meet tight deadlines, work collaboratively with different departments, adapt quickly, and multitask effectively. My responsibilities including creating content through my photography, videography, and graphic design as well as helping with other tasks around the park such as cleaning the field after games and assisting during community events. I was part of a team that amassed 4.4 million profile views as well as 414,000 thousand profile views on my personal media account.
My main responsibility was to create content capturing not only the action, but the emotion and atmosphere of the Cape Cod Baseball League. I was challenged to constantly come up with new ideas and angles to convey the rich tradition and excitement of every game. This included honing my skills as a sports photographer capturing action featuring future Major League players but also documenting the joy of a young fan during kids’ night at the park.
Over the summer I grew significantly as a creator learning a wide variety of new techniques and shortcuts from subject masking in lightroom to creating GIF form content in Premiere Pro. Being surrounded by a mentor now working for the Carolina Panthers and two fabulous co-creators I tried my best to be a sponge of information to develop as a photographer and creator.
I was also able to leverage my experience beyond just photography meeting several incredible mentors through the Kettleers program including folks such as Doctor Adam Naylor. Being able to talk to professionals in the sports industry was tremendous was a tremendous experience that boosted my network and knowledge. I was also able to use a St. Lawrence connection to help set up a NIL deal between a new close friend Payton Manca; Florida State Pitcher, and Ancore Training; a company started by SLU alum Isaac Lewis '18.
