My name is Carlos Sanchez. I was born and raised in a small city in the Dominican Republic called, Los Guandules. Currently, I call home to the Bronx, in New York City. I am a college student at St. Lawrence University. I am thankful and blessed to speak two languages: Spanish as my primary, and English as my secondary.
In 2015, I was presented with the life-changing opportunity to come live in the United States. Leaving home was extremely hard. The most challenging part was the language barrier between everyone in the classroom and me. Since then I have surrounded myself with people who are striving to be better. People who take advantage of every opportunity that comes their way. I am forever grateful to the people who made this life-changing opportunity true, and to the United States. The United States slowly grew on me and has become my second home. I love my home country (Dominican Republic). I love the food. I love the people. I am proud to be from the Dominican Republic, and that love is unbreakable.
