Class Year:

I am a first-generation Mexican-American student, born and raised in the Bronx, New York, majoring in Global Studies and Hispanic Studies, with a minor in Caribbean, Latin American, and Latino Studies. I am part of the class of 2025 and cohort of HEOP and C-Step, on the pre-law track with a focus on international human rights law. In the summer of 2022, I interned at the St. Lawrence County Public Defenders office, supported by C-Step funding. During my sophomore year, I studied abroad in Spain through the SLU Spain signature program under Dr. Shelly McConnell, where I pursued journalism with the Weave News travel grant. Upon returning, I was selected as a University of Buffalo Discover Law Scholar and later became a mentor for the SLU HEOP cohort of 2027. In the summer of 2024, I conducted research in Mexico, supported by the Tanner Fellowship, focusing on decolonizing colonial narratives through museums, and I served as the lead mentor for the SLU HEOP cohort of 2028.
