Sofie Schimmelpenninck '28 from Lewiston, NY, is a Conservation Biology major at St. Lawrence University with minors in Outdoor Leadership and Political Science. She also completed a six-week field semester with the University of Montana's Wild Rockies Field Institute, where she studied large-landscape conservation. Her academic and professional interests include environmental science and policy, sustainable food systems, agriculture, and outdoor education. On campus, Sofie serves as co-president of the Campus Kitchens Project, helping address food waste and food insecurity throughout the North Country. She is also a guide for the Outdoor Program, introducing students to the Adirondack region's natural landscapes, and works as an admissions ambassador, welcoming prospective students to campus. Through these experiences, she is committed to environmental stewardship, community engagement, and meaningful, collaborative leadership.
