Asian Studies

I am a recent graduate from St. Lawrence University with a major in Music and minors in Asian Studies, Communications, and Digital Media & Film. At St. Lawrence, I served as the president, talent buyer, and production manager for the java barn venue, booking 25+ touring acts a year. I served as a chair of the association for campus entertainment, as well as manager of the Canoe House and Munro Family Climbing Wall employee. In the past 5 years, I garnered significant experience in the live event space, specializing in booking and production.

Imani Kingwood is a rising senior majoring in Digital Media and Film with minors in Communications and Asian Studies. Along with researching algorithmic bias, she is passionate about visual storytelling, marketing, and learning about different cultures.

Hey! I am currently a senior at St. Lawrence University, majoring in Environmental Studies with minors in Asian Studies and Outdoor Leadership. I am passionate about sustainable agriculture, specifically regarding increasing accessibility of local produce in aims to combat food sovereignty. Food, specifically, connects everyone in so many unique ways. It is vital to understand how our food is grown to reintroduce a deeper connection with the food that we consume. I am able to pursue this passion of mine through living in the Greenhouse Theme community at St. Lawrence.

Ariana Ardell is a student of the class of 2028. She is double-majoring in Environmental Studies and Business in the Liberal Arts, with a minor in Asian Studies. Over the past year, Ariana has been dedicated to growing her communication and outreach skills, focusing on a environmental sustainability. On campus, Ariana is vice president of the women's/genderqueer fishing club, Women With Rods. She is also the secretary of St. Lawrence Sailing Club and sits on the E-board as social chair of Fly Fishing Club.

My name is Mutanu, a Public Health major with double minors in Asian Studies and Chinese Studies. My interest in public health stems from growing up in a community where I witnessed firsthand how, despite global technological advancements, many countries continue to be left behind by systems that do not serve them or by policies that restrict access to essential resources. I was also drawn to explore the intersections of culture and policy, particularly how trade and governance influence the well-being of nations and citizens in the Global South.

As an undergraduate mathematics major, I’m passionate about creative problem-solving and devising applications to improve the modern world. Namely, I am interested in mathematical applications to the sciences, which motivated me to pursue a summer research experience in organic chemistry under the mentorship of Dr. Tartakoff. Using my skill set, I designed promising syntheses and ran appropriate analyses to draw valuable insights. 

My name is Vyara (Вяра). I am from Sofia, Bulgaria. I am currently attending St. Lawrence University. I have not decided on a major yet. I graduated from UWC-USA in 2020 when the pandemic hit the Western part of the world. I have various interests including literature, astrology, tarot, skincare, movies, languages, art, and history. I love exploring my interests in creative ways. During the pandemic, I picked up an interest in makeup as it allows me to express myself and use my face as a canvas. I love reading about astrology, mythology, and witchcraft.
