Semester:
Summer 2025
Description

During Summer 2025, I was fortunate to have an amazing experience working at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center as an intern in OB/GYN. The DHMC Undergraduate Internship Program is a 10-week full time work experience that pairs career development curriculum with work experience in the healthcare industry. Throughout this internship opportunity I gained practical knowledge on how the OB/GYN department can both directly and indirectly influence the patient care experience.

During the time I spent working in the OB/GYN office, my co-worker and I collaborated to develop an onboarding template and training regimen for department schedulers, to maximize organization and efficiency. I shadowed OB/GYN providers weekly during clinic hours, accomplishing over 50  observation hours and assisted nursing staff with paperwork and patient room turnover as needed. When projects in the department were completed, I had the privilege of exploring diverse healthcare departments across hospital, enabling me to expand my medical knowledge with first-hand interactions.

In addition to hands on work experience, I participated in weekly comprehensive professional development sessions that focused on interpersonal skills, problem solving, communication, critical thinking, and professionalism. These interactive workshops and mentoring sessions allowed me develop an essential skillset for my future professional endeavors.
