Hello!
My name is Liyou Asnakew Sisay, and I was born and raised in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. I’m currently a Neuroscience major at St. Lawrence University, graduating in 2026. My passion for medicine, along with my interest in healthcare policies, has led me to minor in Government as well. I’m bilingual in Amharic, my mother tongue, and English.
In my free time, I love reading, especially classic literature, watching movies, listening to music, and learning to play the violin. I attended the United World College (UWC) of the Atlantic in Wales, UK, for high school, where I completed the International Baccalaureate (IB).
This past summer, I conducted research under the guidance of my advisor, Dr. Oldacre, on using metal organic frameworks to remove harmful azo-dyes from water, with hopes of contributing to both environmental protection and public health efforts. This research has fueled my desire to make a meaningful impact through my studies and career.
