This summer, I had the opportunity to explore a career in marketing and operations with a surf school company named Better Surf Thailand. My main task was to create content to promote the company's surf camp campaign. I organized a social media plan for company branding and learned to barter content with several hotels to gain sponsors for the company. I was responsible for the creative side, while my co-workers handled strategy planning. Furthermore, this internship also led me to work in an international surfing competition named “Grom Patrol Khao Lak 2024.” I was a content director for this event, collaborating with a media director from Asian Surf Co. in Indonesia to create real-time social media content for the competition, design social media sequences for the competition results, oversee PR for the competition information for athletes, and design graphics.
This experience taught me to be brave and unafraid of communicating my ideas in the workplace. I had the chance to explore my career choice in the marketing field, learning from my co-workers and supervisors. I discovered that I am more enthusiastic and passionate about the creative side of this field. While working with the operations team, I found my strength in customer service. Additionally, I developed my surfing skills along the way with help from the surf instructors who are my co-workers! It was a fun experience to explore my career options, live in a surf town in Thailand, and learn about a different culture from my own.
