Throughout the summer, I interned for Congressman George Latimer. Through this experience, I was able to better understand how members of the United States House of Representatives connect with and serve their communities. During my internship, I learned about the many important responsibilities of a congressman, including the work they do not only in Washington, D.C., but also within their district.
This included responding to constituent calls, attending local community meetings, and remaining engaged with the community by visiting local senior centers and attending events such as National Night Out. These experiences allowed me to see firsthand the extensive work that our congressman does to serve his constituents and represent their interests on Capitol Hill.
Overall, this experience provided me with a valuable educational opportunity to better understand the local responsibilities of our representatives and the importance of maintaining strong connections between elected officials and their communities. It also showed me how these relationships help ensure that constituents' concerns are heard and that government continues to effectively serve the people it represents.
