Class of 2028
Major:
Computer Science
Hello! My name is Eszter Keszthelyi, and I’m originally from Budapest, Hungary. I am currently pursuing a major in Computer Science as part of the 3+2 Engineering program at St. Lawrence University, with plans to graduate in 2027. Before coming to St. Lawrence, I attended the United World College (UWC)...

Description

During my mechanical engineering internship, I supported the technical preparation of construction projects spanning multiple disciplines, integrating structural, building services, and electrical systems. I developed and refined detailed AutoCAD drawings, applied national construction standards to prepare accurate, itemized budgets, and used advanced Excel-based cost estimators that reduced manual calculation time by 30%.

I worked with the design team, subcontractors, and project managers to coordinate the specifications for materials to be delivered, conducting in-depth, multidisciplinary design reviews to resolve five design conflicts identified during my internship before construction began, thereby preventing costly rework and potential schedule overruns. On-site inspections allowed me to check progress against plans, identify emerging issues, and make early recommendations for corrective action.

By simplifying budget planning workflows with custom Excel formulas and macros, I improved cost transparency for stakeholders and supported more data-driven decision-making. These contributions reinforced my technical knowledge of AutoCAD, Excel, and specialized budget planning software, while deepening my understanding of the design, budget planning, and construction execution in large-scale engineering projects.
