This past summer, I interned at WOW Payments located in New York City with the Business Development Team. WOW Payments is a merchant services and payment processing company that works to help reduce and eliminate credit/debit card processing fees for small to medium businesses. My time at WOW Payments deepened my knowledge of sales which I believe will be a very important skill in my future.
Throughout the internship my responsibilities included cold calling and going door to door to find new clients and potential leads, assisting clients by helping to design and maintain online ordering systems and menus and conducting email marketing campaigns. Although difficult at times, my work with business owners, specifically Luis, was incredibly rewarding. I first met Luis while I was searching for leads in Elmhurst, Brooklyn. Luis voiced an interest in a kiosk which would allow him to further automize his businesses. After negotiating over various fees, I delivered his kiosk to him and worked with him to set up his online menu. Throughout my relationship with Luis I delivered kiosks to his 3 other locations. It was very rewarding to work with a family man and have a close relationship with a client.
This was an incredible experience that allowed me to develop not just my sales skills but also give me confidence in my ability to thrive in high pressure situations and live in a city as vast as New York City. I'm very thankful for the opportunity that WOW Payment gave me and am excited to enter my senior year!
